500.3406tt Coverage for certain hormonal contraceptives.
Sec. 3406tt.
In addition to any coverage requirements under state or federal law, an insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance policy that provides coverage for prescription drugs shall provide coverage for a hormonal contraception patch, self-administered hormonal contraception, or vaginal ring hormonal contraceptive that is covered under an insured health insurance policy and that is prescribed and dispensed by a pharmacist as provided in section 17744g of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.17744g, at a pharmacy in the insurer's network. An insurer described in this section shall also provide coverage for consultation. Coverage required under this section must be consistent with coverage of other prescription drugs under the insured's health insurance policy.
