Senate Bill 660

Date Completed: 11-8-95

SUMMARY OF SENATE BILL 660 as introduced 9-20-95:

The bill would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to exempt from the requirement of purchasing a snowmobile trail permit sticker a person who used a snowmobile solely for transportation on the frozen surface of public waters for ice fishing, and did not operate it on the statewide recreational snowmobile trail system.

The Act provides that, in addition to registration of a snowmobile, a person who wants to operate a snowmobile in the State must purchase for $10 a Michigan snowmobile trail permit sticker. The permit is valid for one year, beginning on October 1.

FISCAL IMPACT

The bill would result in an indeterminate decrease in State revenues, depending on the number of snowmobilers who would be exempt from purchase of a trail sticker.
