SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5055 (Substitute H-1) as passed by the House:

 

The bill would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to permit the Department of Natural Resources to establish a nonrefundable application fee of up to $10 for each person who applied for a bear hunting license. The application fee would be in addition to the current bear hunting license fee of $14 for a resident and $150 for a nonresident.

FISCAL IMPACT

 

The bill could generate an additional $250,000 in revenue.

 

According to the Department of Natural Resources, there were 25,000 applications for the 1995 bear season which, at $10 per application, would generate the above revenue.
