A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5981 AS INTRODUCED 7-1-98

Public Act 285 of 1931 provides for the creation of a municipal planning commission by a city, village, or township, and for the adoption of a municipal master plan. The act contains provisions about the adoption and amendment of the plan, including the requirement that a resolution adopting a plan or amending a plan be approved by not less than six members of the commission (which typically has nine members). The bill would instead require a two-thirds vote by the commission.
