A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6062 AS INTRODUCED 9-16-98
House Bill 6062 would permit the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to convey four parcels of property within Gladwin County to the City of Gladwin, for $1.00. Parcel 1 of the property is in Buckeye Township, and parcels 2, 3 and 4 are in Grout Township.
The bill would require that the conveyance provide the following:
That the state could reenter and repossess the property, terminating the grantee's estate in it, if it ceased to be used for public recreational purposes, open to all state residents on equal terms.
That the attorney general could bring action to quiet title to, and regain possession of, the property if the grantee disputed the state's exercise of its right of reentry and failed to promptly deliver possession.
The bill would also specify that the descriptions of the parcels were approximate and for the purpose of the conveyance, and that they were subject to adjustment; that the conveyance would be by quitclaim deed; and that the revenue received would be deposited in a restricted account held by the DNR.
