CONTENT


The bill would amend the Public Health Code to require a health maintenance organization (HMO) to allow a female enrollee to designate a participating obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) as her primary care provider, if the HMO required an enrollee to designate a participating primary care provider.


Notice of an enrollee's right to designate a participating OB-GYN as a primary care provider would have to be included in communications sent to an individual or group purchaser of coverage.


The bill specifies an effective date of April 1, 1998.
