S.B. 257: COMMITTEE SUMMARY - AMEND PUBLIC ACT 51 OF 1951
Senate Bill 257 (as introduced 2-27-97)
Sponsor: Senator Jim Berryman
Committee: Appropriations
Date Completed: 4-18-97
CONTENT
Senate Bill 257 would amend Public Act 51 of 1951 to eliminate the local match requirement for expenditure of Michigan Transportation Fund (MTF) revenue for construction purposes on city and village local streets.
MCL 247.663
FISCAL IMPACT
The bill would not change the distribution of Michigan Transportation Fund money to cities and villages. In FY 1995-96, the net distribution of MTF revenue for local city and village roads totaled $62,289,414. To the extent that a portion of that distribution is used for construction purposes, a local match would no longer be required under the bill.
