Date Completed: 4-18-97

CONTENT

Senate Bill 260 would amend Public Act 51 of 1951 to provide that effective October 1, 1997, funds deposited in the Michigan Transportation Fund (MTF) could not be appropriated for services rendered by any department or State agency other than the State Transportation Department or Transportation Commission.

MCL 247.660

FISCAL IMPACT

The Governor's recommendation for FY 1997-98 includes $110,715,100 MTF support for State departments and agencies. The bill would require funding for these departments to come from sources other than transportation revenues. The Senate passed version of the FY 1997-98 budget would reduce the grant to the Department of State by $43,000,000 and replace it with General Fund support.
