CONTENT


The bill would amend the Fire Prevention Code to authorize the transportation of agricultural products that are exempt from hazardous materials transportation regulations as specified in Part 173.5(a) of the Code of Federal Regulations, if the transportation is in compliance with the Fire Prevention Code and other State law. (Part 173 pertains to agricultural products that are exempted from the general requirements for shipments and packagings.)


Currently, the Act requires hazardous materials or other substances (alcohol, gunpowder, dynamite, crude petroleum, fuel oils, pyroxylin, combustible finishes), to be manufactured, stored, sold, transported, handled, or disposed of in a manner that does not constitute a fire hazard or a menace to the public peace, health, or safety, or to endanger or cause loss, injury, or damage to persons or property.
