CONTENT
Senate Bill 994 (S-2) would provide an FY 1998-99 supplemental appropriation of $216,500 to the State Court Administrative Office for State costs associated with Friend of the Court Citizens Advisory Committees.
Citizens Advisory Committees in each county were authorized by Public Act 366 of 1996. The Committees are advisory only. Responsibilities include:
-- Reviewing and investigating grievances concerning office operations of the Friend of the Court.
-- Advising the court and county board of commissioners on the Friend of the Court's duties, performance, and needs.
-- Submitting annual reports on the Committee's activities.
FISCAL IMPACT
The FY 1998-99 supplemental appropriation of $216,500 GF/GP would provide funding to the State Court Administrative Office for State costs associated with staff support functions to local Friend of the Court Advisory Committees. The funds would support preparing reports and manuals, and providing training. The funds would be in addition to $81,200 that is in the FY 1997-98 budget for State costs associated with Friend of the Court Advisory Committees.
