A bill to amend 1978 PA 472, entitled "An act to regulate political activity; to regulate lobbyists, lobbyist agents, and lobbying activities; to require registration of lobbyists and lobbyist agents; to require the filing of reports; to prescribe the powers and duties of the department of state; to prescribe penalties; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts," by amending section 6a (MCL 4.416a), as added by 1994 PA 383. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 6a. (1) A member of the MichiganSenateSENATE or 2 house of representatives who resigns from office shall not make 3 expenditures for or receive compensation or reimbursement for 4 actual expenses for lobbying for the remainder of the term of 5 office from which the person resigned. 6 (2) AN EMPLOYEE OF A MEMBER OF THE MICHIGAN SENATE OR HOUSE 7 OF REPRESENTATIVES EMPLOYED TO DEVELOP OR IMPLEMENT POLICY 8 DECISIONS, EMPLOYED TO RESOLVE CONSTITUENT CONCERNS, OR EMPLOYED 01011'97 LBO 2 1 IN CONNECTION WITH A REELECTION CAMPAIGN SHALL NOT MAKE 2 EXPENDITURES OR RECEIVE COMPENSATION OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR ACTUAL 3 EXPENSES FOR LOBBYING FOR NOT LESS THAN 1 YEAR AFTER LEAVING THE 4 EMPLOY OF THAT MEMBER. 5 (3)(2)A person who violates this section is guilty of a 6 misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000.00 or by 7 imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or both. 01011'97 Final page.
