        A bill to amend 1905 PA 157, entitled

   "An act to provide for the acquisition, maintenance, management,
   and control of township parks, resorts, bathing beaches, and
   places of recreation; to provide for the creation of a township
   park commission; to provide for a board of commissioners to pro-
   vide for the issuance of bonds and the levy of taxes; to provide
   for the transfer of certain real property for parks; to authorize
   cities and villages to appropriate money for park purposes; to
   provide for the acquisition, construction, and use of wharves,
   piers, docks, and landing places in townships; and to provide the
   powers and duties of certain local units of government and cer-
   tain officials,"

   (MCL 41.421 to 41.429) by amending the title, as amended by 1989

   PA 79, and by adding section 5a.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to provide for the acquisition, maintenance, manage-

 3    ment, and control of township parks, resorts, bathing beaches,

 4    and places of recreation; to provide for the creation of a

 5    township park commission; to provide for a board of commissioners

 2    provide for the transfer of certain real property for parks; to

 3    authorize cities and villages to appropriate money for park pur-

 4    poses; to provide for the acquisition, construction, and use of

 6    provide the powers and duties of certain local units of govern-

 7    ment and certain officials; AND TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES AND PRO-

 8    VIDE REMEDIES.

 9         SEC. 5A.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 6, INCLUDING THE CIRCULA-

10    TION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION 488 OF

11    THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A PERSON

12    WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA

13    116, MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, APPLICABLE TO A PETITION DESCRIBED IN

14    THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PENALTIES PRESCRIBED FOR THAT VIO-

15    LATION IN THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.1 TO

16    168.992.

17         Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

18    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____

19    (request no. 02378'97) of the 89th Legislature is enacted into

20    law.
