        A bill to amend 1967 (Ex Sess) PA 7, entitled

   "Urban cooperation act of 1967,"

   (MCL 124.501 to 124.512) by amending the title, as amended by

   1989 PA 138, and by adding section 5b.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to provide for interlocal public agency agreements;

 3    to provide standards for those agreements and for the filing and

 4    status of those agreements; to permit the allocation of certain

 5    taxes or money received from tax increment financing plans as

 6    revenues; to permit tax sharing; to provide for the imposition of

 7    certain surcharges;  and  to provide for additional approval for

 8    those agreements; AND TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES AND PROVIDE

 9    REMEDIES.

 1         SEC. 5B.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 5A OR 8A, INCLUDING THE

 2    CIRCULATION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION

 3    488 OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A

 4    PERSON WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW,

 5    1954 PA 116, MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, APPLICABLE TO A PETITION

 6    DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PENALTIES PRESCRIBED

 7    FOR THAT VIOLATION IN THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL

 8    168.1 TO 168.992.

 9         Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

10    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____

11    (request no. 02378'97) of the 89th Legislature is enacted into

12    law.
