A bill to amend 1923 PA 230, entitled "An act to authorize and empower villages and townships of this state, also cities having a population not exceeding 50,000 inhabitants, to levy a tax for the maintenance and employment of a band for musical purposes for the benefit of the public, pro- vided said special question is submitted to the duly qualified voters of such villages, townships or cities and adopted or agreed to by a majority vote of those participating in said election," (MCL 123.861 to 123.863) by amending the title and by adding sec- tion 1a. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 TITLE 2 An act to authorize and empower villages and townships of 3 this state, also cities having a population not exceeding 50,000 4 inhabitants, to levy a tax for the maintenance and employment of 5 a band for musical purposes for the benefit of the public, 6 provided said special question is submitted to the duly qualified 02378'97 ff KKR 2 1 voters of such villages, townships or cities and adopted or 2 agreed to by a majority vote of those participating in said 3 election; AND TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES AND PROVIDE REMEDIES. 4 SEC. 1A. A PETITION UNDER SECTION 1 OR 3, INCLUDING THE 5 CIRCULATION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION 6 488 OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488. A 7 PERSON WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 8 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, APPLICABLE TO A PETITION 9 DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PENALTIES PRESCRIBED 10 FOR THAT VIOLATION IN THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 11 168.1 TO 168.992. 12 Enacting section 1.
