     January 27, 1998, Introduced by Reps. Law, Voorhees, Nye, Horton, Hammerstrom and Jelinek and referred to the Committee on Labor and Occupational Safety.


        A bill to prohibit the employment of individuals less than

   21 years of age in adult entertainment establishments; and to

   impose penalties.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 1.  As used in this act:

 2         (a) "Adult entertainment establishment" means a facility

 3    that exhibits or makes available to patrons of the facility sexu-

 4    ally explicit visual material, sexually explicit verbal material,

 5    or a sexually explicit performance.

 6         (b) "Sexually explicit visual material", "sexually explicit

 7    verbal material", and "sexually explicit performance" mean those

 8    terms as defined in section 3 of 1978 PA 33, MCL 722.673.

 9         Sec. 2.  The owner or operator of an adult entertainment

10    facility shall not employ an individual less than 21 years of age

11    at that facility.  A person who violates this act is guilty of a

 1    misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days

 2    or a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
