        A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled

   "Revised judicature act of 1961,"

   by amending section 2405 (MCL 600.2405).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 2405.  The following items may be taxed and awarded as

 2    costs unless otherwise directed:

 3         (1) Any of the fees of officers, witnesses, or other persons

 4    mentioned in this chapter or in chapter 25, unless a contrary

 5    intention is stated.

 6         (2) Matters specially made taxable elsewhere in the statutes

 7    or rules.

 8         (3) The legal fees for any newspaper publication required by

 9    law.

 1         (4) The reasonable expense of printing any required brief

 2    and appendix in the supreme court, including any brief on motion

 3    for leave to appeal.

 4         (5) The reasonable costs of any bond required by law,

 5    including any stay of proceeding or appeal bond.

 6         (6) ALL FILING FEES AND SERVICE OF PROCESS FEES AND COSTS

 7    PAID BY THE PREVAILING PARTY IN A CIVIL ACTION BROUGHT BY A CRED-

 8    ITOR TO COLLECT ON A DEBT THAT WAS DUE AND OWING AT THE TIME THE

 9    CIVIL ACTION WAS INITIATED.

10         (7)  (6)  Any attorney fees authorized by statute or by

11    court rule.
