SENATE BILL NO. 416


  April 22, 1997, Introduced by Senator BULLARD and
       referred to the Committee on Government Operations.
     


        A bill to repeal 1964 PA 287, entitled

   "An act to provide for the organization and functions of the
   state boards of education under the constitutions of 1908 and
   1963; to provide for the appointment and functions of the super-
   intendent of public instruction under the constitution of 1963;
   and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts,"

   (MCL 388.1001 to 388.1017).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Enacting section 1.  1984 PA 287, MCL 388.1001 to 388.1017,

 2    is repealed effective January 1, 1999.

 3         Enacting section 2.  This act does not take effect unless

 4    Senate Joint Resolution J                                     

 5                             of the 89th Legislature becomes a part

 6    of the state constitution of 1963 as provided in section 1 of

 7    article XII of the state constitution of 1963.
