A bill to establish a job skills assessment office within the Michigan employment service agency; and to prescribe the duties of that office. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. The job skills assessment office is established 2 within the Michigan employment service agency. The principal 3 executive officer of the job skills assessment office shall be an 4 employee of the Michigan employment service agency, who shall be 5 appointed and serve at the pleasure of the Michigan employment 6 service agency. 7 Sec. 2. The job skills assessment office shall do all of 8 the following: 9 (a) Assess the employment needs of employers in this state. 10 (b) Assess the job skills required by prospective employers 11 within this state. 06124'98 DMS 2 1 (c) Identify employers who may hire high school junior and 2 senior students before or immediately after those students are 3 scheduled to graduate from high school. 4 (d) Make available to all high school junior and senior stu- 5 dents within this state a list of employers described in 6 subdivision (c) and a description of the jobs those employers may 7 offer to high school students or high school graduates in this 8 state. 9 Sec. 3. A writing prepared, owned, used, in the possession 10 of, or retained by the job skills assessment office in the per- 11 formance of an official function is subject to the freedom of 12 information act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 to 15.246. 06124'98 Final page.
