A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, by adding section 25 to article I, to secure the rights of parents regarding their children. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the state of Michigan, That the following amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, to secure the rights of parents regarding their children, is proposed, agreed to, and submitted to the people of the state: 1 ARTICLE I 2 SEC. 25. THE RIGHTS OF PARENTS TO DIRECT THE UPBRINGING AND 3 EDUCATION OF THEIR CHILDREN SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. THIS SECTION 4 SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED TO PERMIT CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT. 5 Resolved further, That the foregoing amendment shall be 6 submitted to the people of the state at the next general election 7 in the manner provided by law. 05986'98 GWH
