A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, by amending section 7 of article IV and section 22 of article V, to eliminate the age requirement for serving as the governor, the lieutenant governor, or a member of the legislature. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the state of Michigan, That the following amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, to eliminate the age requirement for serving as the governor, the lieutenant governor, or a member of the leg- islature, is proposed, agreed to, and submitted to the people of the state: 1 ARTICLE IV 2 Sec. 7. Each senator and representative must be a citizen 3 of the United States, at least 21 years of age,and an elector 4 of the district he OR SHE represents. The removal of his OR HER 00522'97 JLB 2 1 domicile from the district shall be deemed a vacation of the 2 office. No person who has been convicted of subversion or who 3 has within the preceding 20 years been convicted of a felony 4 involving a breach of public trust shall be eligible for either 5 house of the legislature. 6 ARTICLE V 7 Sec. 22.
