A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4042 AS INTRODUCED 1-27-99


House Bill 4042 would amend Public Act 51 of 1951, the Michigan Transportation Fund Act, to specify that when a state trunk line highway is constructed, maintained, or improved, a portion of the material used (as determined by the Department of Transportation with the approval of the Transportation Commission) would have to be composed of coal fly ash.


The bill also would transfer responsibility for minor changes to the line of any road from the state highway commissioner to the department.
