A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4056 AS INTRODUCED 1-27-99


The bill would add a new section to the lobbyist act (Public Act 472 of 1978) to prohibit lobbyists and lobbyist agents from hand delivering ("or causing to be hand delivered") campaign contributions to legislators in their offices, the state Capitol building, or any other building on a day during which a legislative committee had met in that building. The bill also would prohibit lobbyists and lobbyist agents from delivering ("or causing to be delivered") campaign contributions on behalf of an independent committee or a political committee to a candidate or to his or her staff or volunteers.
