A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4058 AS INTRODUCED 1-28-99

The bill would add a new section to the Michigan Election Law to require, as of January 1, 2000, that all elections in the state be held on one of four dates throughout the year. There would be a winter election date in February, a spring election date in May, a summer election date in August, and a fall election date in November. Each of the four election dates would fall on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in each of the specified months. The secretary of state would be responsible for directing and supervising the consolidation of all elections in the state on the specified dates.
