House Bill 4323

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL AS INTRODUCED 2-23-99

The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to make state law conform with federal regulations by requiring towed farm equipment weighing less than 10,000 pounds to have safety chains or devices that conformed to federal regulations.

More specifically, when "implements of husbandry" with a gross vehicle weight rating or a gross combination weight rating of up to 10,000 pounds were towed, they would have to have safety chains or devices that conformed to the federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations requirements.
