A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4467 AS INTRODUCED 4-14-99
House Bill 4467 would add a new section (MCL 324.74103A) to the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) to allow campers to store their camping equipment at camping sites that weren't in use; to allow the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to charge a fee of $1.00 per day for this program; and to allow the DNR to establish reasonable conditions for the storage of camping equipment.
The bill would specify that a person could store camping equipment at a camping site during periods of time in which the camping site would not be otherwise used. However, if a person who was storing camping equipment wanted to camp overnight at that site, then the DNR could charge that person a camping fee of $14.00 per night for each night that the person camped at the site, in lieu of the $1.00 storage fee.
