A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILLS 4660 and 4661 AS INTRODUCED 5-11-99

Currently the term of office for county road commissioner is six years. House Bill 4660 would amend the act concerning the election of road agency officials (MCL 224.7), and House Bill 4661 (MCL 168.257 et al) would amend the Michigan Election Law to shorten the term of office for road commissioners from six years to four years. In addition, House Bill 4661 would change all references to a candidate for county road commission from singular to plural, so that references in the law would be to "the candidate or candidates." The bills are tie-barred and neither would become law unless the other also was enacted.
