A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5097 AS INTRODUCED 11-4-99

Currently, the Michigan Campaign Finance Act prohibits public bodies or individuals acting for public bodies from using or authorizing the use of funds, personnel, office space, property, stationery, postage, vehicles, equipment, supplies, or other public resources to make contributions or expenditures, or to provide volunteer personal services that are excluded from the definition of "contribution" under the act. The bill would amend the act to include candidates for federal elective office under this prohibition.
