A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6069 AS INTRODUCED 10-3-00

House Bill 6069 would amend the Michigan Exposition and Fairgrounds Act to add two members to the State Exposition and Fairgrounds Council, and to prohibit motor vehicle racing on state fairgrounds.

State Exposition and Fairgrounds Council. The bill would increase membership on the council from nine to eleven members; and also increase, from five to six, the members who are allowed, under the act, to be members of the same political party. The two new members added under the bill would each serve for three years, and would be local government officials from local units of government with geographic boundaries less than five miles from the State Exposition and Fairgrounds.

Motor Vehicle Racing. House Bill 6069 would add language specifying that no part of the state exposition and fairgrounds could be used to conduct motor vehicle racing, whether or not this was allowed under local zoning laws.
