CONTENT


The bill would amend the Revised School Code to permit a person who did not hold a teaching certificate to provide speech and language services for the speech and language impaired if the State Board of Education determined that the person met the requirements for speech-language certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, as approved by the State Board and notwithstanding any other provision of the Code or a rule to the contrary. A person who did not hold a teaching certificate, however, could not be assigned to serve as a classroom teacher.
