        A bill to amend 1984 PA 425, entitled

   "An act to permit the conditional transfer of property by con-
   tract between certain local units of government; to provide for
   permissive and mandatory provisions in the contract; and to pro-
   vide for certain conditions upon termination, expiration, or non-
   renewal of the contract,"

   by amending section 2 (MCL 124.22).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 2.  (1) Two or more CONTIGUOUS local units may condi-

 2    tionally transfer property for a period of not more than 50 years

 3    for the purpose of an economic development project ONLY IF THE

 4    PROPERTY TO BE TRANSFERRED IS CONTIGUOUS TO THE LOCAL UNIT TO

 5    WHICH IT WILL BE TRANSFERRED.  A conditional transfer of property

 6    shall be controlled by a written contract agreed to by the

 7    affected local units.

 1         (2) A contract under this act may be renewed for additional

 2    periods  of  not to exceed 50 years upon approval of each

 3    legislative body of the affected local units.
