        A bill to amend 1846 RS 12, entitled

   "Of certain state officers,"

   by amending section 29 (MCL 14.29).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 29.  (1) It shall be the duty of the attorney general,

 2    at the request of the governor, the secretary of state, the

 3    treasurer, or the auditor general, to prosecute and defend all

 4    suits relating to matters connected with their departments.

 5         (2) THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR ANY PERSON EMPLOYED BY THE

 6    ATTORNEY GENERAL ON BEHALF OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHALL NOT TAKE

 7    OR PROSECUTE ANY ACTION AGAINST THIS STATE.
