        A bill to make appropriations for the Michigan strategic fund
for

   the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000; to provide for the
expenditure

   of the appropriation; and to prescribe certain conditions for the

   appropriation.

                   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1          Sec. 1.  There is appropriated for the Michigan
              strategic fund to

 2     supplement former appropriations for the fiscal year
              ending September 30,

 3     2000, from the following funds:

 4       GROSS APPROPRIATION..................................
              $       3,000,000

 5           Appropriated from:

 6       State general fund/general purpose................... $ 
                   3,000,000

 7          Sec. 2.  The appropriation made and the expenditure
              authorized under

 8     this act and the departments, agencies, commissions,
              boards, offices, and

 9     programs for which an appropriation is made under this
              act are subject to

10     the management and budget act, 1984 PA 431, MCL 18.1101
              to 18.1594.

 1          Sec. 3.  The amount appropriated shall be used to
              promote the top 3

 2     economic growth industries in Michigan as follows:

 3          (a) $1,000,000.00 for information technology.

 4          (b) $1,000,000.00 for life sciences.

 5          (c) $1,000,000.00 for micro-electronic mechanisms.
