        A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

   "The revised school code,"

   by amending section 1071 (MCL 380.1071).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 1071.  (1)  Act No. 116 of the Public Acts of
             1954, as

 2     amended, being sections 168.1 to 168.992 of the Michigan
                       Compiled

 3     Laws, so far as it is  THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW,
                       1954 PA 116,

 4    MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, GOVERNS AN ELECTION UNDER THIS PART IF

 5    applicable and not inconsistent with provisions of this act

 6    relating to elections, including the voting of absent voters, the

 7    hours for the opening and closing of the polls at elections, and

 8    the preservation of the purity of elections and the prevention of

 9    fraud and corruption.  , shall govern elections under this
             part. 

10         (2) In  the case of  a school millage election
             held

11     pursuant to  UNDER section 36(2) of  Act
             No. 206 of the Public

 1    Acts of 1893, as amended, being section 211.36 of the
             Michigan

 2     Compiled Laws, the provisions of  THE GENERAL
                       PROPERTY TAX ACT,

 3    1893 PA 206, MCL 211.36, sections 497a and 639 of  Act No.
             116 of

 4     the Public Acts of 1954, as amended, shall  THE
                       MICHIGAN ELECTION

 5    LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.497A AND 168.639 control.

 6         (3) IN A SCHOOL ELECTION HELD UNDER THIS ACT OR A SCHOOL

 7    MILLAGE ELECTION HELD UNDER THE GENERAL PROPERTY TAX ACT, 1893

 8    PA 206, MCL 211.1 TO 211.157, IN A SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH 150 OR

 9    FEWER SCHOOL ELECTORS, THE SCHOOL BOARD MAY LIMIT THE HOURS POLLS

10    ARE OPEN TO 4 P.M. TO 8 P.M.
