Howell, Bisbee, Woronchak, Caul, Toy, Pappageorge, Rick Johnson, Garcia, Bishop, Gosselin
and LaSata and referred to the Committee on Great Lakes and Tourism.


        A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled

   "Natural resources and environmental protection act,"

   by amending section 43534 (MCL 324.43534), as added by 1995

   PA 57.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 43534.  (1) The DEPARTMENT SHALL DESIGNATE A SATURDAY

 2    AND THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY DURING JANUARY OR FEBRUARY OF EACH YEAR

 3    AS FREE WINTER FISHING DAYS.  IN ADDITION, THE department may

 4    designate 1 OTHER day or 2 OTHER consecutive days each year as

 5    free fishing days.  , during which 

 6         (2) DURING FREE FISHING DAYS, a resident or nonresident may

 7    fish for all species of fish in waters of this state designated

 8    by the department without purchasing a license or permit.

 9         (3)  (2)  A person who fishes during 
             the  A free fishing

10    day  or days  pursuant to subsection (1) has the
             same privileges

 2    the holder of a limited fishing license issued pursuant to sec-
