HOUSE BILL No. 5079


     November 2, 1999, Introduced by Reps. Spade, Sheltrown, Wojno, Woodward,
Neumann, Rivet, DeHart, Lemmons, Gieleghem, Basham, Voorhees, Garcia, Mortimer, Bovin,
Schermesser, O'Neil, Daniels, Ehardt, Jacobs, Mans, Allen, Bogardus and Richardville and
referred to the Committee on Appropriations.


        A bill to make an appropriation for the national memorial

   for World War II veterans; and to prescribe duties of certain

   state officials.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1          Sec. 1.  (1) There is appropriated $403,000.00,
              which is

 2     equal to $1.00 for each Michigan resident who served in
              the armed

 3     forces during World War II, to "The American Battle
              Monuments

 4     Commission" for deposit into the fund created in the
              United

 5     States treasury for construction of the memorial
              authorized under

 6     Public Law 103-32, 40 U.S.C. 1003nt.

 7          (2) The state treasurer shall take the necessary
              action to

 8     implement this section.

 9          Sec. 2.  The department of military and veterans
              affairs

10     shall cooperate with the department of treasury in
              carrying out

11     the purposes of this act.
