SENATE BILL NO. 74


   January 26, 1999, Introduced by Senator GAST and referred to the
        Committee on Appropriations.



        A bill to make appropriations for the state institutions of higher

   education for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000; and to provide

   for the expenditures of the appropriations.

                   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 101.  There is appropriated for the state institutions of

 2    higher education and certain state purposes related to education, and

 3    subject to the conditions set forth in this act, from the general fund of

 4    the state, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000, the sum of

 5    $_______________ or as much thereof as may be necessary for the several

 6    purposes and in the following respective amounts:

 7      TOTAL STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES................ $

 8         Sec. 201.  In accordance with the provisions of section 30 of arti-

 9    cle IX of the state constitution of 1963, total state spending from state

10    resources in this appropriations act for the fiscal year ending

 1    September 30, 2000 is $_______________ and state appropriations paid to

 2    units of local government are 0.

 3         Sec. 202.  The appropriations made and expenditures authorized under

 4    this act and the departments, commissions, boards, offices, and programs

 5    for which appropriations are made under this act are subject to the man-

 6    agement and budget act, 1984 PA 431, MCL 18.1101 to 18.1594.
