A bill to amend 1970 PA 207, entitled "An act to exempt certain dogs from license fees," by amending section 1 (MCL 287.291), as amended by 1984 PA 112. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. (1) Notwithstanding any law or ordinance to the 2 contrary, a dogwhichis NOT SUBJECT TO ANY FEE FOR LICENSING 3 IF EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING APPLIES: 4 (A) THE DOG IS used as a guide or leader dog for a blind 5 person, a hearing dog for a deaf or audibly impaired person, or a 6 service dog for a physically limited person.is not subject to7any fee for licensing.8 (B) THE DOG IS OWNED BY A PARTNERSHIP, CORPORATION, OR OTHER 9 LEGAL ENTITY THAT TRAINS DOGS FOR USE AS GUIDE OR LEADER DOGS FOR 10 BLIND PERSONS, HEARING DOGS FOR DEAF OR AUDIBLY IMPAIRED PERSONS, 11 OR SERVICE DOGS FOR PHYSICALLY LIMITED PERSONS. 02302'99 TMV 2 1 (2) As used in this section: 2 (a) "Audibly impaired" means audibly impaired as defined in 3 section 1 ofAct No. 82 of the Public Acts of 1981, being sec-4tion 752.61 of the Michigan Compiled Laws1981 PA 82, MCL 5 752.61. 6 (b) "Blind person" means a blind person as defined in sec- 7 tion 1 ofAct No. 260 of the Public Acts of 1978, being section8393.351 of the Michigan Compiled Laws1978 PA 260, MCL 393.351. 9 (c) "Deaf person" means a deaf person as defined in section 10 1 ofAct No. 82 of the Public Acts of 1981, being section 752.6111of the Michigan Compiled Laws1981 PA 82, MCL 752.61. 12 (d) "Physically limited" means physically limited as defined 13 in section 1 ofAct No. 1 of the Public Acts of 1966, being sec-14tion 125.1351 of the Michigan Compiled Laws1966 PA 1, MCL 15 125.1351. 02302'99 Final page.
