A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 8121 (MCL 600.8121), as amended by 1994 PA 138. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 8121. (1) The sixteenth district consists of the city 2 of Livonia, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 3 (2) The seventeenth district consists of the township of 4 Redford in the county of Wayne, is a district of the third class, 5 and has 2 judges. 6 (3) The eighteenth district consists of the city of 7 Westland, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 8 (4) The nineteenth district consists of the city of 9 Dearborn, is a district of the third class, and has 3 judges. 01693'99 DRM 2 1 (5) The twentieth district consists of the city of Dearborn 2 Heights, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 3 (6) The twenty-first district consists of the city of Garden 4 City, is a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. 5 (7) The twenty-second district consists of the city of 6 Inkster, is a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. 7 (8) The twenty-third district consists of the city of 8 Taylor, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 9 (9) The twenty-fourth district consists of the cities of 10 Allen Park and Melvindale, is a district of the third class, and 11 has 2 judges. 12 (10) The twenty-fifth district consists of the city of 13 Lincoln Park, is a district of the third class, and has 2 14 judges. 15 (11) The twenty-sixth district consists of the cities of 16 River Rouge and Ecorse, is a district of the third class, and is 17 divided into the following election divisions: 18 (a) The first division consists of the city of River Rouge 19 and has 1 judge. 20 (b) The second division consists of the city of Ecorse and 21 has 1 judge. 22 (12) The twenty-seventh district consists of the cities of 23 Wyandotte and Riverview, is a district of the third class, and is 24 divided into the following election divisions: 25 (a) The first division consists of the city of Wyandotte and 26 has 1 judge. 01693'99 3 1 (b) The second division consists of the city of Riverview 2 and has 1 judge. 3 (13) The twenty-eighth district consists of the city of 4 Southgate, is a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. 5 (14) The twenty-ninth district consists of the city of 6 Wayne, is a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. 7 (15) The thirtieth district consists of the city of Highland 8 Park, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 9 (16) The thirty-first district consists of the city of 10 Hamtramck, is a district of the third class, and has 2 judges. 11 (17) The thirty-second-a district consists of the city of 12 Harper Woods, is a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. 13 (18) The thirty-second-b district consists of the cities of 14 Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe, and 15 Grosse Pointe Farms, and the village of Grosse Pointe Shores, is 16 a district of the third class, and has 1 judge. Subject to sec- 17 tion 9940(6), this district may have 1 additional judge effective 18 January 1, 1985, or January 1, 1987. 19 (19) The thirty-third district consists of the cities of 20 Trenton, Gibraltar, Woodhaven, Rockwood, and Flat Rock and the 21 townships of Brownstown and Grosse Ile in the county of Wayne, is 22 a district of the third class, and has 2 3 judges. If the city of Romulus and the township of Huron 3 approve the reformation of the thirty-fourth district pursuant to 4 law and the city of Belleville and the townships of Sumpter and 5 Van Buren approve the creation of the thirty-fourth-a district 6 pursuant to law, the thirty-fourth district consists of the city 7 of Romulus and the township of Huron, is a district of the third 8 class, and has 2 judges effective January 1, 1997. 9 (21) If the city of Romulus and the township of Huron 10 approve the reformation of the thirty-fourth district pursuant to 11 law and the city of Belleville and the townships of Sumpter and 12 Van Buren approve the creation of the thirty-fourth-a district 13 pursuant to law, the thirty-fourth-a district consists of the 14 city of Belleville and the townships of Sumpter and Van Buren, is 15 a district of the third class, and has 1 judge effective 16 January 1, 1997. 17 (21) (22) The thirty-fifth district consists of the cities 18 of Northville and Plymouth and the townships of Northville, 19 Plymouth, and Canton in the county of Wayne, is a district of the 20 third class, and has 2 judges. SUBJECT TO SECTION 8175, THIS 21 DISTRICT MAY HAVE 1 ADDITIONAL JUDGE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2001. 22 IF A NEW OFFICE OF JUDGE IS ADDED TO THIS DISTRICT TO BE FILLED 23 BY ELECTION IN 2000, THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE JUDGE FOR THAT 24 ELECTION ONLY SHALL BE 4 YEARS. 01693'99 Final page.
