ADDENDUM TO SENATE FISCAL AGENCY ANALYSIS OF SB 497 AND 498 DATED 7-10-01:

HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

The House Criminal Justice Committee amended Senate Bill 497 to specify that the fine for a misdemeanor offense under the bill would be not more than $100 for carrying or possessing a firearm, or both, and not more than $500 for use or discharge, or both. (The amendment would make the fine for a misdemeanor offense more consistent with fines currently levied for a misdemeanor offense of operating a snowmobile or boat while under the influence of alcoholic liquor or a controlled substance, or both.)

POSITIONS:

The Department of State Police supports the bills. (10-2-01)
