ADDENDUM TO SENATE FISCAL AGENCY ANALYSIS OF SENATE BILLS 1390 - 1391 DATED 11-19-02:

HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

The House Committee on Transportation adopted one amendment to Senate Bill 1390. The amendment, which would not address the original intent of the bill, would prohibit a person from smoking on a school bus or pupil transportation vehicle. Currently under the law, a person cannot smoke on a school bus or vehicle that will transport students within one hour before the vehicle is used for that purpose.

The House Transportation Committee adopted the Senate-passed version of Senate Bill 1391 without amendment.

POSITIONS:

The Office of the Secretary of State supports Senate Bill 1391. (11-25-02)

The Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants supports the bills. (11-25-02)
