A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4047 AS INTRODUCED 1-25-01
The bill would amend the Mental Health Code to require that if a defendant were held in a jail pending a determination of competency only, after 60 days of confinement the court would be required to transfer the defendant to the Center for Forensic Psychiatry or another facility other than jail, where the defendant could be held pending examination.
