A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4152 AS INTRODUCED 2-7-01

Under the Public Health Code, the Department of Consumer and Industry Services is required to make certain visits to and inspections of licensed health facilities, include nursing homes. A visit made to investigate a complaint is to be unannounced. The bill would specifically require that, in addition to visits made to investigate complaints, the department annually make at least two unannounced visits to each county medical care facility and hospice residence, and also to make at least two unannounced visits to and inspect each nursing home, regardless of whether the nursing home is certified for Medicare or Medicaid.
