A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4228 AS INTRODUCED 2-14-01

The bill would add a new section to the Michigan Penal Code to prohibit persons from providing information that they knew to be false to legislative committees (more specifically, to a committee appointed by either house of the legislature or one appointed by both houses of the legislature) regarding any matter pending before that committee. A person who violated this new section would be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to 93 days or a fine of up to $100 or both.
