VEHICLE REGISTRATION FEE BASED ON PURCHASE PRICE OR HIGHEST BLUEBOOK VALUE

House Bill 4310

Sponsor: Rep. Michael Switalski

Committee: Transportation

Complete to 3-16-01

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4310 AS INTRODUCED 2-20-01

The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to require that, beginning 90 days after the effective date of the bill, the fee imposed by the secretary of state for vehicle registration be calculated using the purchase price or the bluebook value of the vehicle, whichever is greater, in lieu of the list price. Under the bill, the "bluebook value" would mean the most recently published volume of the NADA official used car guide published by the National Automobile Dealers Association.
