A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4496 AS INTRODUCED 3-20-01
House Bill 4496 would amend the Revised School Code to require that a school board work with an appropriate municipal emergency management coordinator to develop and implement an emergency management plan for each school operated by the board. If the board determined there was no appropriate coordinator, then it would be required to work with the emergency management division of the Department of State Police to develop each school plan. Finally, the bill would require that a municipality, an emergency management coordinator, and the department cooperate with a school board to develop and implement emergency management plans.
