A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4688 AS INTRODUCED 5-1-01

The bill would amend the Public Health Code to prohibit tongue splitting. More specifically, the bill would amend the health code's existing definition of "body piercing" ("the perforation of human tissue other than an ear for nonmedical purposes") to specifically exclude "tongue splitting," add a definition of "tongue splitting" ("the cutting of a human tongue into [two] or more parts"), and prohibit individuals from performing tongue splitting on other individuals.
