A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5266 AS INTRODUCED 10-17-01

Public Act 222 of 1972 allows an individual who does not have a valid operator's or chauffeur's licensed to apply for a state personal identification card. House Bill 5266 would amend the law (MCL 28.292) to permit a cardholder to indicate that he or she had executed a do-not-resuscitate order under the procedure in the Michigan Do-Not-Resuscitate Act, had executed a durable power of attorney, or had designated one or more patient advocates in accordance with the Estates and Protected Individuals Code. The secretary of state would designate a place on the card for such an indication.
