A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5488 AS INTRODUCED 12-11-01

House Bill 5488 would amend the Emergency Management Act to enable state employees to take a disaster relief leave of absence in some circumstances.

The bill specifies that unless prohibited by the Civil Service Commission, a state employee who was skilled in emergency assistance, could take a leave of absence to provide disaster or emergency relief assistance in this state. The bill further specifies that this state would not penalize or otherwise take adverse action against a state employee who took an authorized leave of absence to provide disaster or emergency relief assistance.
