INCREASE NUMBER OF STATE'S TROUT STREAMS
House Bill 5556
Sponsor: Rep. Jason Allen
Committee: Conservation and Outdoor Recreation
Complete to 2-20-02
Currently, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) specifies that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) may designate not more than 100 miles of trout streams, which the act defines as any stream or portion of a stream that contains a significant population of any species of trout or salmon, as determined by the department. House Bill 5556 would allow the department to designate up to 200 miles of streams.
