A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6047 AS INTRODUCED 5-9-02

 

The bill would amend the Michigan Campaign Finance Act to prohibit certain individuals connected with casino operations or with licensed casino suppliers, who are prohibited under the Michigan Gaming and Revenue Control Act from making contributions to political candidates and committees, from making contributions to an inaugural committee. Similarly, the bill would prohibit an inaugural committee from knowingly accepting a contribution from persons connected with casino operations or with licensed casino suppliers. A violation would be a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment not exceeding one year, or a fine not exceeding the amount of the contribution plus $2,500, or both.
